Veteran Teachers Lack Training
Our schools also have a lot of veteran teachers who do not possess the necessary training to teach with technology. We are experiencing lack of technology use in our schools because veteran teachers do not have the necessary training in technology. Many teachers who earned a life credential never have to take a class in their entire teaching career because they do not have to renew their credential. Many teachers do not feel comfortable using computers for their personal use and you can forget about being able to use a computer to teach a lesson. All Universities who are accredited have some kind of computer class integrated in their teaching program for new teachers. New teachers are highly skilled in technology and use power points to teach students. These power points highly engage the kids therefore new teachers who use technology to teach have shown to be effective in the classroom. Many districts provide access to technology and useful equipment in for the teachers such as an ELMO, projection machine and a personal laptop but only a small percentage of school teachers feel prepared to use technology to teach.
